What MagicSub Studio is trying to reduce
Subtitle work often jumps between transcription tools, spreadsheets, timing fixes, and editing software. MagicSub Studio brings the draft, speaker separation, timeline review, and export step into one browser workflow.
The service treats AI output as a draft. It is designed around the editor's review pass: checking text, adjusting start and end times, fixing speaker labels, and preparing practical export files.
Core workflow
Subtitles can be reviewed on speaker lanes with timing fields, playback position, waveform context, split/delete tools, and undo/redo.
Download SRT, VTT, TXT, Premiere Pro XML, DaVinci Resolve FCPXML, or Final Cut Pro FCPXML packages with all-speaker and per-speaker files.
Media handling principle
Original video and audio files are not uploaded to or stored on the server. When playback is needed on the review screen, the user reconnects the same file locally, and subtitle jobs are generally retained for 3 days.
This design keeps only the data needed for subtitle editing on the server. Subtitle drafts, speaker settings, and job metadata may be saved, but MagicSub Studio is not a video backup service or media hosting service.
If playback is needed on another computer, the user reconnects the original media file locally. If only text editing or download is needed, the subtitle job can still be used without media playback.
Supported exports
Finished subtitles can be downloaded as SRT, VTT, and TXT files, and MagicSub Studio also supports Premiere Pro XML, DaVinci Resolve FCPXML, and Final Cut Pro FCPXML for editor-oriented workflows. Where the format allows it, speaker names, prefixes, colors, and related editing information can be reflected in the exported files.
Important limitations
- AI subtitles can be wrong and should be reviewed before publishing.
- Speaker separation can fail with similar voices, overlapping speech, short reactions, or noisy audio.
- Long videos depend on browser support, network speed, and the user's computer resources.
- The public workflow currently does not use a separate automatic sentence-polishing step. MagicSub Studio prioritizes creating the draft and speaker tracks, then letting the user clean them up in the review screen.
- Motion graphics templates are usually applied inside the editing program, not inside the subtitle export file itself.
