Privacy Notice
MagicSub Studio is a browser-based subtitle workspace. This notice explains what is processed on the user's device, what job data may be saved on the server, and how advertising and third-party services may be used.
Summary
- Original video files are not uploaded to the server. Original audio files are also not stored as-is on the server.
- The browser uses the selected local file to create subtitle drafts and speaker tracks, and the video or audio file itself is not saved on the server.
- Job lists, subtitle segments, speaker settings, and edited results may be saved to the signed-in account.
- Jobs are generally retained for 3 days from creation or extension and may be deleted by the user or cleaned up after expiry.
Information processed
Account login uses an external authentication service. Account email, user identifiers, and authentication tokens may be processed during login and session handling.
When a job is created, MagicSub Studio may store file name, file type, approximate file size, duration, selected language, expected speaker count, creation time, and expiry time.
After subtitle generation, subtitle text, start and end times, speaker labels, speaker colors, edited results, export settings, and diagnostic metadata may be saved so the job can be reopened and exported.
Browser-side processing
Automatic transcription and speaker separation run in the user's browser where supported. The browser reads the selected media file to calculate speech sections, subtitle drafts, and speaker tracks.
To prepare the AI workflow, the browser may load model files and runtime files from third-party static file providers. The browser may cache these files for performance according to browser policy.
MagicSub Studio does not intentionally store original media, job lists, or edited subtitle results in general persistent browser storage. The browser may keep temporary session data, authentication state, and local file permissions where supported. If the user clears site data in the browser, these temporary permissions and session details may also be removed.
The public workflow currently does not use a separate automatic sentence-polishing feature. If that feature is offered again later, the feature screen and this privacy notice should explain the processing separately.
Server-side storage
Original video and audio files are not uploaded to or stored on the server. The server stores subtitle results, speaker settings, and job metadata. When playback is needed on the review screen, the user reconnects the local file directly.
Jobs are generally retained for 3 days from creation or extension. When the user presses the extend button in the job list, the retention period is renewed for another 3 days from that point. When a job expires, generated files and job records may be cleaned up automatically.
Users can delete individual jobs from the job list. When a deletion request is processed, MagicSub Studio checks and deletes the job record and associated stored result files for that account.
Purpose of use
- Show and recover job lists for signed-in users.
- Reconnect local media, edit subtitles, and save speaker settings in the review screen.
- Export SRT, VTT, TXT, Premiere Pro XML, DaVinci Resolve FCPXML, and Final Cut Pro FCPXML files.
- Respond to errors, check security, prevent abnormal use, and manage operating cost and storage.
- Support ad review, ad display, and service operating costs.
Advertising and cookies
MagicSub Studio may use advertising services such as Google AdSense to support operating costs. Advertising providers may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers, and similar technologies.
Google and other third-party vendors may show ads based on prior visits to this or other sites. Users can manage personalized ads through Google's advertising settings.
The currently applied Google AdSense code is used for site ownership verification and ad review preparation. After approval, ad units are expected to focus on the side ad areas of the workspace and review screens.
Google's explanation of partner-site data use is available at Google partner sites policy.
Third-party services
MagicSub Studio may use AWS for account verification, data storage, file storage, and server execution. It may load model and runtime assets from providers such as Hugging Face and jsDelivr. Pages with ads may use Google AdSense.
